چکیده
Down syndrome (DS) is a genetic disorder that occurs due to trisomy on chromosome 21. It known relate the amyloid-beta (A4) precursor protein (APP) gene and amyloid plaques, affecting developmental processes resulting in early dementia, signifying relation Alzheimer's disease (AD). AD individuals with DS affects many aspects include memory function, social cognitive behavior. There also high likelihood for have an at age, adding more challenges patients caregivers. Triplication of extra copy APP familial are responsible link between these two diseases.

Oral Health in Individuals with Down Syndrome
John Langdon Down (1866) first described the clinical entity of Down Syndrome (DS) at mid-nineteenth century and one century later, the DS primary cause due to trisomy 21 was reported (Lejeune et al., 1959). Until now, the etiology of Down syndrome remains unknown. DS is predominantly due to non-disjunction of chromosome 21; while translocation of an extra copy of the same chromosome accounted ...
متن کاملCongenital Heart Disease in Children with Down syndrome in Kermanshah, West of Iran during 2002 - 2016
Background Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal anomaly. Dysmorphic features can occur in several organs in this syndrome. Cardiac anomalies with a prevalence of 50% are the most common anomalies responsible for death during the first two years of life. We aimed to determine the prevalence of cardiac anomalies among Down syndrome patients admitted to two tertiary hospitals in Kermanshah...
متن کاملThe Prevalence of Celiac Disease in Down syndrome Children with and without Congenital Heart Defects
Background The prevalence of celiac disease (CD) is remarkably varied in Down syndrome(DS)patientscompared with other diseases. This study aimed to assess celiac disease prevalence in Down syndrome children with and without congenital heart defects (CHD) and its comparison with controls. Materials and Methods This case-control study was performed at a single center on 132 participants in three...
متن کاملDown syndrome individuals with Alzheimer's disease have a distinct neuroinflammatory phenotype compared to sporadic Alzheimer's disease.
Down syndrome (DS) is the most common genetic cause of intellectual disability and is primarily caused by the triplication of chromosome 21. The overexpression of amyloid precursor protein gene may be sufficient to drive Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathology that is observed in virtually all individuals with DS by the age of 40 years. There is relatively little information about inflammation ...
متن کاملWorking memory and cognitive skills in individuals with Down syndrome.
This work is aimed at analyzing working memory (WM) components and their relationships with other cognitive processes in individuals with Down syndrome (DS). Particular attention is given to examine whether a verbal WM deficit is due to difficulties in verbal abilities often showed by individuals with DS, or whether it is a deficit per se. A group of 20 individuals with DS was compared to a gro...
